The Box Set
is a series of four performance-based installations. Each performance, a new painting will be unveiled. The painting will serve as a backdrop and catalyst for an event. Each event is a collaboration between the artist, the painting, a group of performers specific to the event, some objects, and the viewers. The elements of each set begin and end in a box.
A set of posters to accompany the performances will be available in an edition of fifty.

The Box Set is about counting from one to four, and maybe five;
or the quality of quantity.
It is the story of a girl who goes outside (or on location) to find herself in a crowd.
Energy is built and released: a good director relinquishes control.
The Box Set is a mythology about memory (sports), opposites and pairs.
It is about learning (or forgetting) how to cry on cue.
We start at zero and end in a circle.

"Hazel" is a multi-disciplinary artist and herbalist.
She spends her time wildcrafting, watching documentaries, making water color paintings, studying plant medicine, playing with a sampler in the garage and blasting out Betty Davis sensations; drinking beer on the patio, editing video projects, dancing, laughing with friends, and eating fish tacos.
She is full of fire and looking for love.
